Current & Upcoming Lifelong Learning Opportunities
Current & Upcoming Opportunities will be found below.
Series Description: Many countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East continue to face poverty, conflict, weak governments, and other development challenges. This program uses a simple framework - outside influences (the West), internal problems (the South), and environmental factors (the Natural World) - to explore why this happens. Through using real-world examples, we will better understand why some countries struggle and what can be done to support their growth.
Series Information: Wednesdays, June 4, 11, 18 & 25, 10:00-11:45 a.m., Owens Science Hall Room 150, UST St. Paul Campus (south campus). (This is a live, in-person event only; no Zoom simulcast is available.)
Series Speaker: Dr. Arijit Mazumdar is Director of International Studies and Professor of Political Science at the 91探花. Thomas, St. Paul, 91探花. A member of the Political Science department since 2008, his work centers on international politics. He teaches courses in Asian politics, Comparative foreign policy, and Developing world politics. His research interests include Contemporary India, International Relations of Asia, and Foreign Policy and Diplomacy. He is the author of Indian Foreign Policy in Transition: Relations with South Asia (Routledge/Taylor & Francis Press). His work has been published in several academic journals, including Asian Affairs, Asian Survey, Contemporary Politics, Journal of Asian and African Studies, and The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs.
